En 1966, el Gran compositor Aleman Bert Kaempfert (tambien autor de la música de «Ojos de la Española» «Spanish eyes”) componía «Strangers in the night«, una maravillosa canción con una romántica letra de Charles Singleton y Eddie Zinder.

What do Frank Sinatra’s Strangers In The Night, Elvis Presley’s Wooden Heart, Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, and The Beatles have in common? The answer is Bert Kaempfert, the former swing jazz player, producer, composer, arranger and orchestra leader from Germany whose genius touched so many. From discovering and producing the first Beatles recordings in Hamburg to writing some of the world’s most memorable and lasting hits, Bert Kaempfert has left an indelible stamp on 20th century music.

The roll-call of stars who have performed his songs includes Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Bette Midler, Sammy Davis Jnr, Shirley Bassey and Placido Domingo. Spanish Eyes, L.O.V.E, A Swingin’ Safari, Africaan Beat and Danke Schoen list among the most played hits on worldwide radio. His music has featured in many films, including About Schmidt, Bewitched, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Dish, Mary and MaxandMeet The Parents, as well as endless TV shows and commercials.

Strangers In The Night, taken from his sound track for the film A Man Could Get Killed won him a Golden Globe. With over 150 million records sold, he and his co-writer, Herbert Rehbein remain the only two German songwriters to be inducted into the American Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
